This piece was inspired by a painting by Peter Paul Rubens. It just started as a study last November and then gradually developed into a serious work. Maya was used to make the basic mesh and for shading and rendering.. Sculpting was done in Mudbox and ZBrush. Composited in Photoshop. The background is a photograph. My sincere thanks to RebeccaK and all my other friends in the "Artistic Anatomy and Figurative Art" forum. I wouldn't even have thought of doing this if it wasn't for them... and thanks to all who gave me valuable suggestions and encouragement in the WIP thread.

The Calling of Saint Mathew
This is my first photoshop master-study, and the first work done with my Wacom Intuos tablet. The intention was to get some tablet practice and to get the hang of using colors. I admire Caravaggio for his subtle but powerful use of colors and light and shade.
