This piece was done for the second digital sculpting workshop conducted by Magdalena Dadela (Intervain). The subject is a scene of "Kalarippayat", the ancient martial art of Kerala, where I was born. Base mesh modeled in Maya and sculpted in ZBrush3.1

This piece was inspired by a painting by Peter Paul Rubens. It just started as a study last November and then gradually developed into a serious work. Maya was used to make the basic mesh and for shading and rendering.. Sculpting was done in Mudbox and ZBrush. Composited in Photoshop. The background is a photograph. My sincere thanks to RebeccaK and all my other friends in the "Artistic Anatomy and Figurative Art" forum. This is my first photoshop master-study, and the first work done with my Wacom Intuos tablet. The intention was to get some tablet practice and to get the hang of using colors. I admire Caravaggio for his subtle but powerful use of colors and light and shade.
