Hi!
This is the first time I am writing something on my blog(or any blog!)
Just wanted to share a thought I had while I was walking home from work yesterday, listening to Karnatic music on my Zen:

Music is equivalent to painting: It is painted on the canvas of TIME with the colors of sounds/notes.. Colors are different frequencies of light, while musical notes are different frequencies of sound! Painting follows rhythm in space, and music follows rhythm in time! Just like you divide the canvas(most of the time mentally) into a grid of squares to place the elements of a painting in their aesthetically correct places, in music, you divide TIME into a grid of measures to place notes, phrases and expressions in their rightful places in time!

Well.. not very impressive I know, but it came as kind of a revelation to me!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
